Biography

The son of two Korean-born doctors, Tony almost took a medical path himself and studied biophysics at Brown University until he found himself more fascinated by the lab slides’ vibrant colors and contrasts rather than their biological effects; this is when he realized he had a much different calling.

Tony’s images reflect his diverse interests and show a scientific reverence for the essential elements of light, form, scale and composition combined with a playful yet daring joy in movement, energy and life.

He is also a director and producer of short films through TurnKey Pictures, a media company he co-founded with screenwriter/producer Loie Maxwell. 

The short fashion film "Alter Ego" which he wrote and directed was nominated in 4 categories for: Best Cinematography, Best Music, Best Wardrobe and Best Art Direction at the 2018 La Jolla Fashion Film Festival.

Clients include: L' Uomo Vogue, British Harper's Bazaar, Wonderland, GQ UK, Vogue Nippon, Vogue Korea, Bergdorf Goodman, Theory, Shiseido, Lacoste, NARS, Maybelline NY and Amore Pacific.

Some celebrity subjects are: Elisabeth Moss, Elizabeth Olson, Priyanka Chopra, Dan Stevens, Richard Madden, Chloe Sevigny, Isabel Lucas, Derek Jeter, Liv Tyler and Amy Adams.

Tony is a 25-year survivor of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and donates a portion of his studio proceeds to Cancer research.
